As someone whose helped my dog raise her puppies, and who actively trains kittens.

Never, EVER, give your puppies or kittens ice cubes. It will hurt their teeth. Do give them chew toys and toys from the store. Anything works, and for kittens starting to play, teach them to scratch places you want them to.

My golden retriever is 4 months old and is very active. But the sad thing is it's very bitey. I can't even play with it for 2 minutes because, in the beginning it doesn't bite. After like a minute or so, it starts biting and chewing with it's very sharp teeth. I'm new to this kind of dogs. Kindly advice.

Don’t give them chew toys… but give them an ice cube to chew. And having them bite themselves? No. Sorry. This is not it… way better ways to go about biting issues with puppies.

Horrible advice. Don't scold, don't take their muzzlew, give them a toy or puppy proof snack to let them have a safe outlet, dogs chew to relax and explore. It's natural behaviour. Correcting this can get them frustrated. If a pup is excessively biting, look at the reason why and how to help them cope. (most of the time it's overstimulation while sleep deprivation)

I disagree with not giving puppies chew toys. Puppies are teething and NEED to have something to chew on. When my puppy tries to bite at me, or chew on something inappropriate, I redirect her by giving her a chew toy. Repetition overtime will teach her what is acceptable to chew on.

the grab technique does actually hurt them, but only a little, it causes there teeth to stab/bite there lips, which hurts, when the puppy makes a squeal then let go, if the puppy/dog is (already) a hard biter, do this method to show them there bite/teeth hurt, if you do this and they try biting harder it just hurts themselves more, its almost like them playing with a litter mate the other puppy will squeal when they bite to hard, teaching the biting puppy how hard is to hard, and since it happens when your hands are near there face/mouth 'biting'/ playing with your hands, it also teaches them to not put your hands in there mouth (aka, them not using your hands as chew toys, etc.)

and do NOT play with your puppy with your hands ever, not for play fighting or anything, this just shows them your hands are toys, and its ok to bite them, or you. ALWAYS play with your puppy/dog with a toy, and toy only.
