I know this might sound terrible or anecdotal but the only times when my dog freaks out around other dogs is when he is on a leash perhaps it is the forward tension causing more drama but he was great today around a bunch of new dogs with different personalities
I’m fostering a puppy I found. They don’t have room for her at the shelter or at a rescue, but I have a dog who’s not dog friendly. They’ve met through a fence, we worked up to off leash with a muzzle on and things are going well. It’s a process, you can’t just throw two adult dogs together like that, especially if they have a history of aggression.
"So you get him a female dog" Get him a fucking teddy thats what he needs. Blows my mind how many people think their dog needs another dog in the house to keep them entertained, the humans are the entertainment, if your dog isnt entertained enough on its own and is displaying bad behavior within a few weeks youll have two dogs who arent entertained and make their own behaviour.
Obviously you could own more than one dog, but the first one has to have its needs satisfied first and none of its needs are "a live in companion"
At the moment I think my problem is me. Meaning they do good at the first part but once they get close my pit will go tense with his tail straight up. I know my dog by now when he gets stiff he’s about to pounce. He doesn’t growl or bark he lines his shot up and strikes. The problem with that is if he being a complete asshole and the other dog has the balls to try and be dominant he will lock on, so when he goes tense I grab him. I think when I do that and I grab him or her it gives them the wrong impression as if something is wrong causing them to want to go at each other.(more so him going after her)He’s been around other dogs before and wasn’t aggressive unless there was food down. Another issue could be the setting. My pit was born and raised in the country the first half of his life now we’re in the city this whole property is his territory so bringing another dog into it could be the reason. The new dog is a female pocket bully so obviously much smaller than him and she young. Could it be a jealousy thing as well? I don’t know where to go from here. I don’t like my dogs outside but blue is too rough and the little one isn’t allowed outside unless a human is watching. Any tips or tricks I can try??
Help.. I never knew it was a bad idea to have two females, and now my 14 yr old has been showing aggression towards her 2 yr old sister! It's so bad that I keep them separate when I'm not with them. Will they ever be friends again?? Is my 14 yr old jealous?? Advice welcome
Maybe someone will see this and give me some advice. Mom has dementia. I am moving in to take care of her because her house belongs to me and is familiar to her. My lab is very playful. Her chihuahua is with humans but when introduced through a chain fence barked and nipped at my dog.my lab wagged his tail and never growled or bark. Should I proceed with introducing them? Any ideas would be very, very appreciated.
Recently my dog stopped using doggy door I blocked it recently with door for it but now there's no door he won't come in how can I reassure him to be confident in coming in door?
Nop. What was wrong here is first. One dog was on leash. Second mistake if the dog is teritorial he should meet on neutral ground. And meeting for that dog have to be with a regulated musle on and .eeting dogs to wich owners agree to the risks and both dog owner preset. In the event their is a problem to prevent the musled out of control dog from bubstaining injuries.
I had a dog, and my dad friend dog became friends with mine pretty fast, zero aggression towards dogs that are bigger than him, He was a medium-sized puppy pitbull
This is what people don’t understand my dog just doesn’t like people or other dogs when he’s on his walk. He’ll completely ignore them but people are rude and push boundaries
Yeah reason why I don’t take my pit/labrador mix out is because he had a traumatic experience when he was a puppy and we didn’t fix it. Now it’s a headache to let him outside Im afraid of him biting a person to get to their pets at this point.

“That’s not even the best way for them to meet” … SO WHAT IS?! You can’t leave us all hanging like that!!
My dogs go crazy when seeing another dog through a fence.
Best way to introduce dogs is through a walk right?

I always thought if his tail is wagging he’s happy.
