I raised a GSD from 3 months old until he passed away at 10 years old. Now, we adopted a 1 year old GSD. He doesn't have the same drive as my 1st, but he is happy just doing some training in the yard everyday. We have a big yard for him & he plays with our other dogs. He's quite content doing his job guarding the yard everyday!

Well yes and no.yes they do need to be worked to keep them from becoming distructive.just like most working breeds.but no they must understand that u are t pack leader n they have to respect that.i have owned many shepherds.
N thats t key.u are t pack leader n they recognize that.but yes a little bit of activity keeps them happy.

Idk how you can say their not the dog to put in the back yard when my German shepherd lives inside our home yet is outside in the back fenced in yard most the daytime… He never has had any issues…. He's great for all walks and home protection…. Punk ass….

Well….shit….now that it's in our backyard and does go on walks. He and my son grew up playing competition soccer. Drago was his practice partner. If you can't keep it from Drago….you can go pro.! No joke, I have a video on YouTube of Drago playing soccer with me.
He did a pull back step and megged me then ran behind to receive the ball. I about poo'd my pants
    😮
Since my son can't practice with him, I'm afraid he's getting anxiety.

    I have a rescue of 75 % lab and 25 % Shepherd.
And Yes!! She NEEDS !! Physical de energizing .!
She really wants to play and chase and retrieve her Jolly ball.
I am sure she had built up frustration when I only had her 1 month and having to be on a leash or in our camper. She NEEDED TO RUN!!!!!
She went after a young dog on a walk. Needless to say we paid Vet bills for the dog .
And when we got home we hired a trainer. We learned so much about prong collars e collars and for me regular key words to use for "HEEL, OK, DOWN, PLACE, STAY" etc to have control and most important CONFIDENCE for me to be able to have her under my control.
The small dog is fine and the owners have been wonderful .

Sometimes my gsd will smell and look for things, but majority of the time he will stare at me until I play! So cool that he only wants to do stuff with me, even when it’s his free time to run and play!!
I love him so much! Everyone should be lucky enough to experience a German shepherds love! ❤

And they seem to have a tendency to rough house with other dogs by biting the back or the back of the neck. Owners of dogs they play with get mad about that and I've seen fights breakout because of it at dog parks. It drives me crazy how people don't understand what's acceptable play. They just say their GSD or Mal is playing.

Tom, although you seem like a nice guy, in general, I don't agree with your training techniques very much. That being said, I 100% agree with you on this one and nothing frustrates me more then people who just leave there dogs outside all day, even when they may have a few acres or whatever with no mental or physical stimulation or interaction with the owner. I also love your hoodie, I might have to pick one up for myself

I have a 1yr old male needing a home!!! We saved him from a terrible living situation. He was starving nearly to death. The owner was passing herself from liver failure, they weren’t bad people and called me to help their dog. Anyway.. he’s healthy now but I have no time for him and he’s just left all alone most of the time 😢 someone help him. Rescue? Foster? Forever home? Anyone?

Been training GSDs for almost 20 years and people think they are house dogs. They are not. They are a working breed that needs to acompany you, all thr time. Its their job to be your guardian. Allow them to be.
