This isnt the best way of doing it. Since when most dogs cant get to food they bark or bite or just get annoyed. You need to get the food in your fist. Dogs have an instict to use their paws when they cant get it with their mouth. The second your dog touches your hand with thier paw give them the food. Then keep using the word you want for them to do it.
😂 My dog is a mix with a beagle. I just showed her the treat and ask for her paw. Of course she didn't understand so I would tap or hold her paw and shake it. Repeat this process when treats are involved and sure enough she learned. I did the same thing with sit. Now I'm trying to teach "lay down"
I taught mine by lifting up his paw and putting it in my hand, combined with the words “shake”, and gave him a treat every time he did it. (Btw he’s not a husky)
