Training your puppy starts at home. Practicing skills in a known environment comes before practicing in novel environments. And remember, dog's don't generalize well. Just because they "do it at home" doesn't mean they understand the behavior happens everywhere. For the first 10 new locations, act like your dog has never trained the behavior before and "re-train" it in the new environment. Over those 10 locations your dog will get faster and faster and then understand that that skill happens everywhere 🙂
Hi im trying to train my 7 month pup to be a SD but haven't found any tutorials. I've been looking on your channel but only find what to do. If you have a specific title for one of your videos I would be gald to watch😊
I think your tutorials are very detailed and excellent. I'd like to have my dog professionally trained, but our local trainer is too expensive. I've heard that BarkTok has training videos. Have you used them? Do you have any better suggestions?
My SDIT is 5 months old and he's mastered it in public already but I have been working with my dog everyday since I adopted him when he was 3 months old … he's been getting compliments on his behavior by all kinds of people.
Hi I’m going to get a golden retriever puppy soon and I will train him to be my esa cause I found out I get stressed easily and i watch your videos for training tips thanks so much your a doll!
Thank you for this. I don’t need a service dog but I’ve always wondered how service dog owners train their dogs to be so obedient. I like to see what I might be missing in knowledge for my future dogs that will be huge Central Asian Shepherds LOL.
This is helpful for pet dogs too! I’ve been in so many pet friendly stores with my pup and it’s such a risk for them to be far away from you when you’re in line. He’s been stepped on before and he’s an elderly dog, so that could severely injure him.
Such a simple little skill—one would think!! But it’s not AT ALL the same as lying down out in the open, at least not to my dog. Good reminder to anticipate your “skills” needs, and first practice potential new scenarios, even for “old, reliable behaviors,” while you’re still at home! (Ask me how I know… 🙄) 😅❤
