I had that (puppy blues)with a puppy but he turned out to be the best dog ever ❤ he just passed at 15 years old . I’m glad I went through the hard puppy stage without giving up.

Thank you for being so real. This is how I felt when we got our puppy, also. We had had older dogs, but it had been many years since we had a puppy, and I forgot what an upheaval to our life it would be! Sleep deprivation, potty training, and chewing/destructive behavior. Our “puppy” is 10 years old now, and she is SO special to our family. I’m really glad we stuck out the hard times, because we love her so much. Also, this is why I don’t think people should “gift” a puppy to someone else without knowing they want the responsibility. It is a major life change!

I'm so grateful for your video that I have tears in my eyes because my husband is so anxious that I am getting close to adopting a puppy. He's never had a dog, partly because he has such terrible allergies, and I've always had a dog.
We couldn't get 1 at first because I couldn't find a small hypoallergenic one but God has brought me a couple of options to look at and as it gets closer, my husband is getting more and more anxious. I so want to reassure him that this will be a welcome change in our lives. I have always had a dog and I miss being a puppy parent so much!!! I'm so very grateful for you walking me through your experience. I've called my mom who might come and spend the night with her dogs, if she is willing; it's like having a new baby at home. I think this will help me get through it and I think this is an important part of planning, because I sometimes can get anxious or overwhelmed, and I know it will help my husband feel more comfortable about bringing in a new family member. ❤😊Thank you so much.

This is exactly what I’m dealing with right now. I don’t have the puppy yet, I pick her up in a few weeks, but I’m already having second thoughts. My maltipoo passed away a few months ago at the age of 11. I got her when she was 3 months. So It’s been a really long time since I’ve dealt with new puppy anxiety and responsibilities. I just got a puppy and this is my second one the first one i didn't make it til less than a week and i feel like i am getting overwhelmed with her and trying to figure out the best way to take care of her cause right now i feel like i have no patience and i am trying so hard to take care of her. This video is so relatable! I also have a maltipoo and he’s the worst eater 😭 hopefully you can help me with this. His breeder was giving him royal canin but when I got him he hardly wanted to eat it and he’s been eating his poop 🤦🏻♀️ I’ve tried everything to make him eat but he hates the dog food and only likes chicken and this freeze dried food I got him. I’m scared he’s not eating enough. Anyone has had this experience that can help? (I’ve tried chicken broth, putting chicken in his food, treats, and baby food in his dog food)
Also he’s 6 months old I got him two months ago , any and all advice is appreciated:)

I so appreciate you talking about this! I had a wonderful dog growing up, and she passed away shortly after I started college. It's been 10 years and I feel like I want another dog, but I have an anxiety disorder (scrupulosity OCD). I remember when I took care of my brother's new puppy for a day and how overwhelmed I felt, and I started backpedaling. I want to make a conscientious choice to do right by the dog and myself. Thanks for reminding me that a big part of that feeling could just be due to new-puppy anxiety, but that it should pass if I can make it through the first little bit. Now I can chat with my therapist about my worries beforehand and get some tips before getting a new dog, so I'm prepared! 🙂
Yep same here. I brought my puppy home and the first night was awful!! I was thinking to myself what have I got myself into I don't think I'm gonna be able to do this just kind of panicked actually. But I've been working with her and we seem to be communicating and everything seems to be coming around so I am so happy that I have a new best friend.
This is literally why I don’t want to get a dog just yet. I feel like I won’t be the best owner and get all of the same thoughts you had. But after this video I feel more confident about getting a dog. Thank you so much for this.
