I want to do this but my dog is huge! I feel bad because I can only hold him by the collar and he acts like it chokes him but if I speed up he’ll take off running and I don’t think I can hold him on the end of the leash. Anybody have any tips?
I use a cane, and depending on the situation I use it on either side. I have taught my dog the commands, "Right side!", and "Left!' and he switches sides smoothly to the opposite side of my cane.
Im a qualified behaviourist and the single biggest problem i always see with these "trainers" is that they never teach the owners. The whole point of this is to train the owners as well as the dogs. How can you expect this behaviour to continue if you haven't taught the owners what to do after you've gone?
The fact that you're using a slip leash is probably a pretty big reason this worked so well though. It might be a good idea to say what gear you're using in the video because if somebody tries this with a flat collar it probably won't be as effective.
I was so ready to learn until I heard him say the dog's name. Our dog's name is Kiko, too! Now I have to calm my reactivity before I can pay attention! Can't wait until our Kiko starts walking like a champ!
yeh cnt do this as went dizzy. think i need to go to a trainer for training for me let alone the dogs,2/3of our dogs pull and ignore us when on walks, makes a walk with them such an unpleasant chore.yet offleash recall is great
The dog is also trying to scratch himself. Can you let him do that? Imagine you had an itch and your boss just kept prodding you to work and ignore the itch! You can also TALK to the dog! They understand words and as such, my dog understood over 200 words! I don’t understand why humans don’t talk to animals.
I tried this with my dog. he just gets frustrated and starts sitting and he won't move unless it's in the direction he wants to go. or instead of turning slowly he sprints untill he can't
I dont think, that too many people are carrying a hunting rifle in their right hand, anymore, so that the dog has to walk on their left side. E.g. On city sidewalks it makes much more sense, if the dog walks on your right side. That way, you stand between your dog and the oncomming traffic. People afrait of dogs will be grateful, too..
This is very similar advice as with horses. They don't like going in circles, but if they are so focused on everything else, keeping their head facing the middle of the circle and keeping their feet moving, they have no other choice and eventually give in. I know that I'm never in a dangerous situation with my horse because I know if all else fails, we can just turn into a beyblade.
The only thing I find wrong with this is that he is holding his leash wrong. Please dont put the loop around your wrist and wind the leash around your hand. Guess what happens if your big strong dog decides to bolt ! Yup you get jerked off your feet and pulled along. It can also hurt your wrist quite badly. put the loop over your thumb and then gather the leash in your fist rather than wrapping up around your hand. This way you can let go easily and the loop just slides off your thumb. I used to train dogs in a dog obedience club.

Ok cool
2 months laika, he was moving hardly done couple of round turns and he dropped on the floor, he drops in midd of street as he dont like leash
Telling people this works in 1 go is crazy.
This only works on calmer dogs
This will not help you when there’s a lot of external stimulus
Why does the video cut off here? I can’t find the second part of it.
The poor dog just wanted to itch himself😢
My problem is my dog will pull me down the street he’s so strong and he’s a big boy he gets too excited
But my dog is the boss…

Not bad

I need help! What do I do if my dog won’t walk with a leash?
You took the distraction away…
Does it matter if we lead train on the right or left hand?
Thank you for these tips.
9month Cockerspaniel, I use the stop and no when he pulls reward when he walks nicely . Very time consuming but it seems to work
Any other advise ?
Really appreciate all you dog trainers sharing your knowledge ❤
Thanks for the advice
Where’s the rest of the video? Lol

Is there a certain age we can start this? I have a 9 month old golden retriever –
Is he too young to try this?
Hmm.. I'm gonna try this tomorrow.

Seems like it takes the enjoyment of the walk away from the dog, they are forced to watch you always.

Where can i watch the full video?
Didn't work with my dog.
Also, the dog looking at you could be rewarded
So all u so is give them treats so a dog … depends on treats ?
Smart trick as you used his own mind to train him
Is he an Irish doodle? We have one that looks just like him. ❤
What about training a cat to walk on leash?
