My dog will only countersurf when no one is around. So much for trying to train that away. I can stand there with them with steak on the counter and they won't try to jump up and eat it.
Never had a problem with counter surfing in my life… a very loud and firm GET DOWN!!! and then praising when they get down worked for me. And when they are thinking of doing it a firm LEAVE IT worked…….but as a pet sitter….my god so many people dont know how to train a dog and need this video
My dog waits until i am in the other room very sneaky . and smart . what works for me most of the time got some of the small cheap and weak mouse traps put them on the counter the snap scared her . she noses the smell of them now . works most of the time just put them around your food
My dog only does it when I am not home so he knows better. Today, while I was at work, he jumped up on my counter and tore up a bamboo lid for one of my glass microwave containers that was in the dish strainer. How do I get him to stop jumping on my counters when I’m not home? I could understand if I left a steak up there all day, but this is a bamboo container and a dish strainer. He knows he’s not supposed to be on my counters. He has plenty of toys.
This is good information – that I used 9 years ago to train my Rhodesian Ridgeback. Until the last few months she has been good as gold. Now, however, she has taken to counter surfing when I'm out of the house. Butter, cat food, bread etc. Today she escalated, while I was in the shower she ate a cherry pie left cooling on the counter. I was home!! Was hoping for an idea I could use.
I started using a diaper box to place my 4 month Boston terrier who’s going through a bit of a teenage phase and it worked like a charm. Used my 3 kids as a bigger distraction to see if he could handle it and ended on a win with of course rewarding along the way! Thank you for your videos, they’ve been so helpful ❤😊
My daughters dig counter surfs only when we're not home. He has turned the gas on the stove twice, its infuriating. Going to have to start crating him when I'm not here.

We have a lab there is no low value food. We use kibble as treats and she will do anything for it.

What if you have a Great Dane that doesn't need to jump up, just a simple neck stretch?

Do not have a dog, easy.
How about if they jump on the counter when no one is there, even if there is no food🤦🏾♂️.
