My swiss shepherds got their crates around 10 weeks old, they're 12 weeks now and they enjoy lying in it but as soon as I shut the door it's hell. I can't sleep at night! How do I stop the whining??? We haven't been locking them in there yet and they're starting to destroy everything in the house
So how long do you do this before expecting them to stay in the cage overnight? Also do you suggest sticking to a smaller crate for puppies? I have a 9 week Samoyed
That's the way I would've done it if I'd known. It became a power struggle but I stuck with it and my lab-mix has no trouble going in the crate. Also would've used "crate." I use "Go to your room." Quite the mouthful. My other dog is deaf, I just point and praise the Lord that she goes right on in.
Okay but I did the reward thing with my dog and that turned into him only listening if it meant he was getting a treat in return 😭 I have a puppy now idk what to do I don’t want to mess up again lol (btw my dog passed at 13y/o last year. I trained him when I was 13🥺)
I only crated when my boy was a puppy and hadn't figured out how to use the dog door to the back yard. I got a dog to be my pal in return for long walks and watching my property when I'm at work. He can crap or pee outside at will. Why even get a dog if they spend 6-10 hours a day in a small cage. smh.
Crate training is grea😢if you CAN'T TEACH THEM TO BE FAMILY MEMBERS. Crate training is for moving in a van. Otherwise it's called lazy, not teaching to be alone. Except for the VERY FEW who were mistreated and need it. People TRAIN your animals like children. Or get insurance
My puppy already had been crate trained before I got him because they were really good breeders to desensitize vacuum, saw, dropping metal bowl, nothing makes him afraid but a car ((giant shiny monster I would understand))
I need a video of someone very first day of training.. because my boy Remy looks trained already.. I know you said he hasnt seen this crate- but looks like remy been doing something 😩😩-
Every night my 1 year old dog still gets a treat after she goes in her crate for the night even though she doesnt need the reinforcement. I say "bed" and she runs to it happily. The treat after I close the crate and say "goodnight" is just a day ending ritual
I'm having trouble finding treats my puppy likes. I've tried a whole bunch of different kinds, and I've even tried little bits of rotisserie chicken 🤦 this is an unexpected complication
I’m rescuing a 9 month old and unsure how he will be over night not using bathroom in the house or chewing things up. How do I successfully crate train if the door can’t be closed overnight his first night. He can’t have free rain
Lmfao my dog doesn’t know crate but he goes in over night and is quiet. I get up first thing and take him to eat and then back in an hour. After the hour, I let him outside to roam the 1 acre I fenced in for him. He roams and chills for an hour and back in the crate for 1 hour. Then back out for fetch and back in. We do this dance until I can work from the kitchen and he can Roam freely. He has a climb command for his day bed. Once I’m off, we walk a half mile and I let him back to free roam the yard until I finish my 4 mile run. Then we fetch again. He’s in the crate 10 hours a day technically but doesn’t realize it. Also he’s a Doberman Velcro dog. I’ve noticed he’s even less clingy when I speak to him regardless of if he’s in or out the crate. I plan to begin to leave the door open. At 8 months he’s not teething as much. Weekends he can roam as much as he pleases indoors. He’s also great around other dogs and ppl. I love him loads

Would you recommend feeding in the crate as well
Do you put blankets or toys inside or leave it empty?
The puppies never seen this crate Guy just says the word crate and the puppy goes right in lol
Do you have a course on puppy training?
I have to go to work i cant not close the door dumb
So until we get to this point where does the dog sleep?

So what if I didn’t do this and he’s been in the crate for a few months now? How do I make this a better experience?
I got lucky and my dog loves the crate. She only peed herself 1 time and that's it. I had her completely house broken at 4 months old
Feed them in their crate, so they associate their favorite thing, eating, with the crate.
Ive heard its better to say the word then wait a second. Gotta let them process it

Im going to put you in a crate
So what do you do with your puppy the first few nights if you’re not shutting them in the crate?
So you don't close the door for two days? What about sleeping?
Jesus Christ loves you bro
Any tips with rescues i tried this with my puppy and it has not bowd over well.
What about the first night with a puppy though? They have to be in the right away all night no time to condition them
My dog eats the crate

Do you have to say “crate” in a high-pitched girly baby voice to make it work?
Day 2 of owning a gsd, she slept in her crate last night day 1 ❤ she's 8 weeks old
At 4 paws for ability we didn't crate train
I’m not using a crate for my 5mo, he usually just lays down in the house. Weather it be by feet, at the door matt or his bed. Is this ok?
$1,000+ crate 😳
Should we get one crate per puppy or can they share
Or you can train them to behave without the crate 🙂 tired of seeing dogs locked up in crates for 10-16 hours a day it’s pathetic

That looks like a prison not a crate lol

When and how do you stop using treats as a payment for a command ? Or do you continue to give treats?
Yea that’s what happens when u say crate pffftttt
Thank you brother I bought an 8 week old puppy pitbull and I am freaking out waiting on his crate on temu
We use the word bed my puppy loves it
