You should really wear a muzzle! You give others anxiety with your dramatic energy. Crate training might help you to stay calm.

We crate trained our dog said she was a puppy. She would have no issues in the crate for 9 to 10 months of her life and then all of a sudden she has harmed herself chewing through two metal crates she developed extreme separation anxiety. She always had some of it like she would bark when she heard us coming home, but this is another level a very difficult puzzle to figure out.

I had a cavalier King Charles spaniel – very prone to separation anxiety and from the week I brought her home, I’d just step out the door for a short time with no words. Come back in and carry on. Increased this over time and one day I went out for an hour and she was snoring when I got back – and remained asleep. I used a motion camera to see how she behaved and she just settled after I left. She’d know my work clothes and bag and when she seen me ready to go would just take herself off to her bed. She was brilliant. It’s so hard to do when they’re tiny and cute but not making a fuss when leaving was key.

    I need help badly.
I walk my dog before I leave to work, then I kennel her and leave calmly but as I leave she cries.
I came home today and she tore a piece of metal from the kennel. Her tooth is chipped and her nail was bleeding. I’m stressing out.

When I kennel her while I’m home she is fine and calm

I’m calm my dogs are well trained both do amazing in crates but my one dog struggle in a down stay or sit stay he will lay there and wine or get up before I brake him yes I take his leash and place him back but then he ends up doing it over and over every 5-10 minutes he brakes it

We’ve got a 12 week old Golden Retriever, had him for a week now. He’s fantastic in his crate. When we leave for work, we use the hide mat with his food in to keep him occupied whilst we back up slowly and leave the house quietly. Just got a puppy cam now to see if hes content without us

Should you have the crate in your bedroom while you sleep?

Why does crate training help with anxiety? I just adopted a dog a few days ago who needs more structure than my old girl who is just chill.

I tell my dog, regardless how long I’ll be gone, the same phrase in a firm but kind tone. I always say “hold down the fort” and then close the door. Entirely guess work on my behalf but it calmed him down over time. I feel like that phrase would prepare him to expect me to be absent for long periods of time (to work my job and go to the gym). He’s a German Shepard if that matters to anyone’s curiosity. Now it feels wrong leaving without saying it, he even looks for me to say it.

My Schnauzer pup actually doesn’t cry anymore when I leave the house because I’m guessing she knows I’m leaving the house because she can see me walk out the door. But when I leave the room, she loses her ever loving mind! Crying, whimpering, etc. Many times, the kids are here so they have to hold her back and keep her entertained while I go potty and she’ll chill out until I return. She’s 3 months old and I’ve been trying to wait out the crying until I return so that she doesn’t think I’m returning because she’s crying and whimpering. But it goes on so long sometimes.

Hey, our dog is crate trained very well but the pandemic screwed him all up. So when someone gets car keys or their purse, or even just feels anxious about going to school or work he can sense that. We taught him place and that works, yet sometimes all he does it bark at you not wanting to be left behind. I was wondering if you had any tips, thanks!❤❤

Scamp can hear me silently putting on a pair of socks – there is nothing I can do to keep him calm. So frustrating positive reinforcement DOES NOT WORK on my Collie!!!!!!!!!!

My problem is not leaving them in their own home it's leaving them with a stranger (such as the vet).

I have an anxious dog, to the point where the vet is recommending euthanasia if the new meds don't have more of an effect soon (switched her from Fluoxetin last year). 😢😢😢😢😢 But she doesn't have separation anxiety. Couldn't care less if we leave.

I work for a group home. They got a dog about 6 months ago. He was small. I tried.. For months.. To get them to get a proper crate. he was to big for the one that he had. No one listened. Now.. We have a dog that will bark and bark and bark when put in the crate. Considering at night thats where hes supposed to be, it makes things difficult. Right now I can hear his anxious panting. idk how I could help this. I dont know if I even can. The fact that a BORDER COLLIE POODLE mix was given to people who have no idea how to train a dog and no motivation to take the dog out is beyond me. A small yapper would have been a better option -_-

Why does crate training stop seperation anxiety? My dog doesn't do anything like chewing or causing damage while I'm gone, he barks and howls. Wouldn't he still be able to do that in a crate?

My puppy is like 2 months old? I’m not sure she’s lapping but mostly milk she can’t eat food as yet, if I turn around or I’m not facing her she cries and come to lay on my feet. She cries all night because she’s not in my room, she follows me everywhere and cries if I’m not in her line of sight I can’t take it I feel so bad and don’t know how to help her

My dog is crate trained, 3.5 months old, never ever greet him after coming back home and never talked to him before leaving the home but still he has seperation anxiety. Now we are trying to give him treats in the crate before we left, still not working. And plus we make sure we open the main door of the house when he is not barking

Dude, I'm calm but my GSD mix panics if I put on slippers. He's velcro…..bathroom trips include him, pumping gas includes him….3 ft is too far for me to be away. BTW, he's crate trained. He's just too smart. Move my purse, panic. Move keys, panic attack. Grab socks, omg mom is leaving. It's funny not funny. I've had him since he was 10 weeks. It's insane but also funny. He's not destructive but sounds like an ambulance for at least 5 minutes after I leave. I live inan rv, crates don't fit now. I throw treats and bolt. It works but is a pain in my a$$

My dog has learned signs that were leaving such as my mom, putting on her coat or all of us gathering in the area of the door at the same time
