I use message therapy and music therapy to help my dog. Also since he has panic disorder I give him Casein Protein. He does well with those techniques.
What if your dog isn’t fearful in general? But gets scared if a dog is barking in a fenced yard? My dog seems to get scared of the barking from people’s backyards (the barks start off as just alert barking, then as we get closer they start growling and sounding vicious). Tips?
I have a fearful dog that I took in. He’s basically afraid of everything, but he has improved on somethings. He’s one of the more challenging dogs I’ve ever had. But at least he’s not aggressive.
My girl is nervous and after having an extremely smart, food motivated dog…this puppy is challenging! Stinky shuts down on walks, not food/toy motivated. It’s definitely a slow process. And L a z y 😂❤
I brought a pup home that was abadoned and he has severe ptsd surrounding loud noises and raised voices. It's so difficult to watch. I'm going to try this tactic and see if we can work him through it. He just turned 2 years old but whatever they did to him seems really bad…
I agree, but, when you say to a nervous person to feel calm. Can you tell us more about that. How does a person who is normally nervous suddenly feel calm just because they need to.
From what can be seen: The dog is on the wrong side of him for the slip leash. If it tightens, it will not release and risks choking the dog. Can't even get the basics right. And just bad advice. Ignore and scroll on.
I have done rescues for over 40 yrs. I got one now that is confident, friendly, and loves attention. He is picking up the basics like a champ! BUT He is ABSOLUTLY TERRIFED of a bathroom.😮
I tried walking my brothers pitbull because he doesnt have time for her so I got the vest and leash and she got super happy and we walked out fine out of the driveway but as soon as we got to the neighbors house she got super scared and refused to walk
Dopamine is white cells in the human body and dogs attack our dopamine as we get closer to them. This is what people feal and why they are scared. Lack of dopamine cause discomfort and unhappiness not related to emotion. Our immune system is also associated to dopamine. Having dogs around you will attack and reduce your dopamine. This is why dogs are always hungry, food restore dopamine. Some people are not aware of it because they are not sensitive.
Hi, my dog is super anxious. She’s very sensitive to noises and We shifted cities a year ago. The new city is far more noisier than the earlier one – our dog just refuses to come out for a walk. If somehow she does come down the apartment building she keeps pulling to come back inside. She’s a rescue that has been with us since she was 2 months old – not food motivated at all. Any tips?
Also don’t wave your arms around near them when they are experiencing stress and remove them from situations they are uncomfortable with signs of anxiety and discomfort include hyper awareness, panting, crouching towards the ground, edging away from things…… don’t get training advice from video shorts. It’s dangerous. I’ve seen the damage it does to dogs and ppl. Yes don’t share the nervous energy, but also don’t put them in situations they aren’t ready for.
My adopted dog is scared and nervous..I can't take her out for a walk…she piss when someone come close to her. I took her walk only at the room top space…. I need help.
I tend to just get frustrated when my 54 pound pit bull comes flying into the back of my legs at full speed just because someone opened a car door behind us !
What if you've already showed them you felt sorry for them if you stop doing that will they still lose the nervousness or have they connected you with the nervous energy forever?
Yeah I got a very skittish Boston terrier from a breeder. He was there till he was like 4 months old and he recently turned a year. He’s been with me.. for 3 to 4 months now. And he’s still skittish. Not near as bad but I don’t know why he’s so skittish. A lot of times he won’t even come out of my room. Have to drag him out. I know that’s he’s safe zone but still. Hoping by at least a full year maybe a year and a half he at least be normal around the apartment and not feel like he has to be in one room or another cause something bad would happen or something or whatever he’s thinking
💯 see you know sum , i know all the same stuff too, are you like me and have a natural gift with animals? Or you had to learn what you kno from somewere
Thank you for the excellent tips! I hope you don’t mind if I share one. Remove sunglasses before working with animals. Eye contact, and at times no eye contact, is so helpful in building a relationship. By blocking your eyes from their view, some animals will actually become more fearful.

From the clip I’m getting we should hang out in a public place to show them they’re safe, without coddling them?

Remove sunglasses before working with animals.

I’m beginning to foster and have a dog coming that scared of shadows –
I had forgotten not to “ baby talk” and reinforce fear! Thx 🙏
Same with kids when they fear new things 🎉
Thanks for sharing! I am a fearful girl, too.
I agree
But my GSD is so fearful that she won’t even play or walk
She is a rescue
Sorry, but you can’t even get my nervous dog outside the gate.
At the sight of a dog leash, he lays down until the leash is out of sight.
Wow v helpful
