Do you have any recommendations for training a adhd service dog? I bring home my puppy in June with the goal of training as a service dog. I’d appreciate any suggestions!
hello! i dont know if i need a service dog or not. my mom said that i dont need a service dog but to me i feel like i do. can u help me? i have a lot of trauma, mostly with my family. i am not comfrontable with talking to a therapist nor my family. excpet my cousin (shes to young to do anything abt this anyway) but i would rather talk to ppl that understands me more. i have really bad anxiety and i think i might have ptsd. i feel to young to talk abt stuff like this as well. but i think having a service dog would help me more, as i have a ESSA(emotional support stuffed animal) i know that i cant get one. bc the thing abt my parents not good with it. and i feel like i dont rly have a reason to get one ? idk at this point..
I have a dog and have been diagnosed with adhd and most likely have cptsd from childhood trauma and watching this video unlocked a realization somewhat that I might be able to figure out how to externally get my needs met and get help in areas I have struggled with but not known how to get help with until watching this. Thanks for making it.
I’m so glad I stumbled across this video. I lost my dad unexpectedly less than a year ago and my mom 2 months ago. Having ADHD and anxiety, I have been struggling more with my symptoms since my parents death. I would benefit so much for the services your dog provides. This gave me the courage to speak with my doctor and see if training my dog to be a service dog would be beneficial. Thank you. ❤
I have adhd my pup has helped me so much. For years I tried not taking meds..after therapy and my mom’s death..I also fell into a depression..my puppy saved me.. he is my best friend.❤💯
Oh man I was looking for resources on making my dog a service dog and I can't believe how much I relate to the mental gymnastics about making this decision…literally brought me to tears, thank you for sharing
I'm a frontline respiratory therapist who cared for the 1st Community spread COVID patient in the United States. I suffer from PTSD. Due to our state laws, I'm not categorized as a first responder, therefore do not have access to the financial resources that others receive. I have 3 young kids, and want to be around to see them grow up. Can somebody help me get a service dog please?
I was just told that a PSD would be good for me! Thank you so much for talking about how the dog also helps you feel seen, and not invisible! I can't wait to watch your training videos. Do you know anything about how to select a dog?
Hi just watched your video. My husband is looking to get me a psychiatric dog. I suffer from Anxiety, Depression, and cancer fog which is like adhd. I needed to hear this because i suffer a lot, today I asked my psychiatrist and she is writing a letter so we can start with an emotional support dog while we save for psychiatric dog.
I don't feel invisible with my dog. This video is so healing and powerful. I won't even overwhelm you with the story. I will just give a deep heartfelt thank you.
Wow this is a life changing video! It’s nice knowing I’m not useless or weak for needing help and never receiving support. I thought getting a service dog for myself would be pathetic but now I’m glad I can use it to my advantage
Pls lmk the name of the dog trainer and where I can find the website to learn more, the one website in bio leads mw to a variety of web searches and I got confused and was wondering if anyone can help direct me
Thank you so much for this video I struggle with similar but different things and have had the same thoughts. I have not gotten my dog yet bc she was just born 2 weeks ago. This is super helpful. I know this video is old but I hope you see this comment!
Im working on getting a psychiatric service dog now for my BPD and AuHD. I’m nervous but excited. I really want this and this is an interesting journey to go on. Fingers crossed!
This video was very emotional for me to watch. I’m having difficulty articulating to my partner the positive benefits I know a dog will offer, and this did that, but also really hit home with accepting the needs that I have and the things that I struggle with.
Would you be able to share the list of things you struggled with, and also the fun things on your fridge (caught the Dopamenu and I am going to recreate that one for sure!!)
Thank you for doing this video. I feel seen. Ive been struggling with this as well. Ive been going back and forth for a very long time about a service dog for my adhd and anxiety but its hard cause most websites say that an esa would be better but i know i need more than that but struggling with the idea and identity shift as well.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m also a woman who couldn’t describe or acknowledge the struggles. At 26 my partner who also struggles with adhd recognized the same struggles I had and suggested I get evaluated. I ended up checking almost every symptom that I didn’t even know was a symptom. It’s one of those things where if you’re “functioning” and “successful” enough, it’s very easy to dismiss. I didn’t know that I didn’t need to fight so hard for every little thing, and even though I CAN get by and be successful without help, that doesn’t mean I SHOULD. Thank you for validating an experience that is very real for a lot of us
Just watching this and listening to your struggles, it's like mirroring my own thoughts! I just got an ESA for my doggie and I've been thinking about training him for PSD! It makes you realize that yes, you do have a disability and need help but it can be so hard! And then there's that guilt because so many others have it worse…..it's crazy! I'm literally crying right now and don't even know why! Anyway Hugs

I've had severe adhd ever since I was a kid, now as an adult it's still a mess trying to deal with things on a daily basis
What I’m finding is that I think I’d benefit more from having a community around me.

Don't get a puppy.
Pardon the late reply, but might I ask what the DopaMenu is? @howtoadhd

Thinking you don't need or deserve the things you need and deserve is such a relatable ADHD issue

I have been seriously considering getting a service pet to help with my disability. I know I need help.
I have a 1lb puppy that brings me comfort for my anxiety and ADHD. How can I train my puppy if I have no trainer in my area?
Thank you for posting this. I too am in the process of working to get my dog through this process. So glad I made this decision ❤

The way the dog looked at the steering wheel like "I'll do it for you but you'll have to teach me how too"❤ love that

I’d love to see an update on training Chloe! Tips on how to do this with your own dog.
And adhd
I have anxiety
