My Rottie could simply walk into my Challenger, but when I got the Gladiator he learned to fly, lol (and he makes it look so easy). Now, when I open the door, he learned to bow his head so I can attach his leash because I'm only 5' and can't reach. 😂
When my chocolate lab was a puppy, I taught him to put his front feet up and I would boost his rear as he hopped into my truck. Then when he got out, I would put an arm around him and he would slide gently to the ground. I did this to reduce the impact on his joints while he was growing and we rode in the truck several times a day. That early training came in handy last month when he suddenly came down with cancer of his spleen and he was weak but still wanted to be with me. He died just a couple weeks before his 5th birthday. RIP Tango 😢
I like my big dog to be okay with being picked up incase of an emergency(anything can happen and i dont want my 100+ lb dog fighting me about lifting him onto the er vets table)but once they are i never lift them unless I need to. They HAVE to be okay with it, they dont have to like it but they have to let it happen.
Do you have any tips to get a dog to recall quicker? He always responds, but he kinda just lags behind when he's recalling. I just want him to be a bit faster.
