My GSD is simply not food motivated so I use praise and toys in the place of treats for this formula.

I donโ€™t know what to do with feeding time. I have a eight week old Labrador, who scarfs his food every opportunity whether itโ€™s in a bowl or in your hand.

My dog is a senior and she still wants to play like a puppy every morning ๐Ÿ˜‚ Right after giving me endless shit until she's fed. What I've taught her is that dad thinks its pretty funny when you howl at him to tell him you want food. Then I got her a bell to tell me she wants to go outside. She decided also that would tell me she wants food. It's a loud morning.

Crates should be illegal. They are prisons, nothing more!!!

๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ Real. This time will go by so fast. I can still remember the day that I got my last boy in 2008. Iโ€™m on his successor now. I had always hoped that it would be one of his sons. But I didnโ€™t get that lucky. We always take for granted, their lives as if ours are more important than theirs. Their time is so short they just wanna live it up every day. You canโ€™t hate them for that. You can only appreciate and love that or else theyโ€™re gonna drive you crazy. My only regret after raising 20 something dogs is that I didnโ€™t do it younger.

My untrained senior dog didn't know wtf was happening when the puppy arrived and he had to do a sit, stay, break drill at dinner but whoever said you cant teach old dogs new tricks shouldn't been near an animal its actually pretty easy.

My brother made fun of me for forcing my dog to take naps in his kennel as a puppy. This dog is a rescue behavior case, with an extreme prey drive and HIGHLY intelligent. He would be 4 months old but go 8 hours without sleeping at all. He though if I was home he had to be going. He is now 2, we are getting very good with his reactivity, and he knows when to play and when to chill. He may be an ass, but he is my world

Thats smart to do training BEFORE breakfast… i somehow never thought of that & always have been doing it AFTER… which obviously they have like 25% less interest in the training food & are a little sleepy

My dog is always calm in the crate. Even when we got him a few days ago.

Itโ€™s impossible to treat train him because he doesnโ€™t respond to food at all. But heโ€™s a golden puppy.

Sometimes there might be a treat on the floor and heโ€™ll sniff and ignore it.

    Idk what to do

We lost our 11 year old dog this year. Just got a new puppy, and forgot quite what goes into making them well-mannered as you put it.
Following your advice and in one week seeing amazing results. Thanks for all the content.

I just discovered your channel – excellent. Do you ever talk about mutts from the pound? They are a great option, too, but there are different issues with abandoned dogs. Thereโ€™s a guy name Rocky that โ€˜sits with dogsโ€™ at shelters that is also giving out great advice – you two are two sides of the same coin. โค

I think this is part of what people don't understand. They're going to be getting up at 4:30 in the morning to spend a half an hour taking care of their dog and then an hour getting ready to go to work

I still don't understand why anyone in their right mind would put a dog in a crate.
    That's borderline abusive.

Stop with the obsessive control-freakery and just enjoy each other's company. Making them sit and wait for food is pathetic.

Crates are cruel. My puppies sleep in their kennel in the back yard with a soft cushion inside and they can go to the toilet whenever they want. I now have two very well trained adult dogs who are perfectly house trained and they have never spent an hour in a crate in their life.

Excellent video. "Toilet opportunity" is my new go to phrase and not just for the dog. I love it- I will giggle every time… Rover currently responds to "pee and a woo" due to a Spoonerism shortly after he joined our family. It stuck.

Absolutely ๐Ÿ’ฏ!!! It does wonders, and that attitude becomes a norm. My GSD is 14 weeks and he is better behaved in public than most of the adult dogs in our neighborhood.
