How do we work in a way that the dog does not become 'e-collar-wise'? I would rather not need to keep an e-collar on the dog forever if possible. Also, I expect that he will eventually learn what it means when 'that' collar gets put around his neck.

My dog is an absolute angel with the prong collar on. And honestly she still is great when it's off- but there is a discernible difference. Looking to work in the e colllar next

Thanks garret. Watched all your videos on ecollars. Bought one for my puppy. Within 1wk of daily conditioning with long line, hes officially offleash. I keep the ling line on him for now so if he slips up, i can step on the leash to remind him. As he gets better n better im going to just clip a traffic leash to him for places were leash are compulsory as per bylaw like city centres here.

Its so nice to see him run free just being a dog n know that he will come back when beeped if hes investigating a scent n i cant see him.

My German Shepherd has great recall off and on leash. What piss me off is when assholes think it's ok to bring their into my dogs space. I tell them she's leash sensitive and doesn't care for other dogs. But the idiots still think it's ok to keep walking toward us.

Not sure I agree with this…

If you can only get it to recall on command with training but don't mention training for the collar then are you trying to imply it's instinctive?

Just a reminder that E collars dont count in areas that have leash laws. Ran into 2 goldens hiking on a trail that barreled into my dog who was leashed. They had e collars allegedly…

I've got a pointer amazing breed naturally trained to listen (unless there's birds around) …she also loves swimming and once she's in the water she just gives me challenging looks and do her thing 😂 there I have to hide so she will come out of the water to find me 😅

I once had a dog who was extremely intelligent. She came back to me with simple voice commands without a leash or a prong collar or an e-collar. She was once even chasing a ground hog, and I yelled her name, and she stopped on the dime and quickly came running back to me.

Now, my current dog won't do that. She's the type of dog that will say fuck you. So, I have to use the e-collar on her.

    Question!
Is the Educator still the best stim one?

I need to give it another chance now that I know how to properly train it. My voice is quiet and doesn't carry, especially on days where talking just feels exhausting. My boy is taught and handled with 70% physical cues and about 30% verbal cues. Once that leash is gone I have zero control and zero proper communication.

My ecollar is great and my dog responds to just the beep 90% of the time and the other 10 percent is with the vibrate. I've never had to use the tickle

I always explain ecollar like a tap on the shoulder. Ever been so focused on a task that you didn’t hear someone calling to you but when they tapped you on the shoulder it broke through the hyper focus? Same thing but at a distance.

Mine did. I was a dog walker for 10 years, both leashed and off leash, and I could control six dogs with just my voice. If they did not come when I called them on trail, they were dropped from my pack.

My trainer advocates for the use of both a prong collar and an e-collar. I've seen properly used e-collars work wonders with other dogs. By the time we're done with the training program, Molly will be both on and off leash trained with voice, hand signals, and e-collar signals. She will also be trained with service dog tasks.

Everyone should know there’s a very important step before this that should be done. The use of restrained recalls. Restrained recalls very early and often that imprints the default behavior that when you reinforce it later with the e-collar it def is a game changer. The earlier the better it’s as important as sit and down. From the time you get your dog work on recalls and restrained recalls from a very early age imprint into your dog get to my owner when I hear him or eventually see him in trouble immediately. Recalls from the time you get your puppy or dog are the most important thing to work on other than the basic bond. 🙌🏽💯
