My god this pup is the spitting image of my boy. He passed this August to old age, but I miss him so much. He looked exactly like this little guy when he was a pup.

Stepping on the leash like that is also a great way to train a puppy or dog of any age that is in need of training. It teaches not to jump up or pull ect. It's "clear" communication which will make any dog more obidient, calm and focused. The most effective is when paired with a prong collar. Stepping on the leash while greeting others for example, this will work through self-correction everytime she tries to jump up. The proper tools are key to training, and the best thing to have is a prong collar with the "proper fit", "prong guage size" and most importantly "how to use it"!. Teaching them using light pressure (dead ring) and how to turn it off. Starting out for the first week I allow my dog to get used to the feel without the collar "engaged" attached to the dead ring. When the collar is engaged it allows you to "pop" the collar to give correction. This gives the dog 360° degrees of "pressure" not PAIN to correct a dogs unwanted behavior ONLY. Using it gently as to say 'hey, wait up buddy' not yanking it harshly in frustration. That will only scare the dog in a negative way and thats not what it is intended for. It's to be used as a "positive" training tool NEVER punishment. Rewarding them when teaching them using pressure, no pressure equals = reward. I could talk all day lol, but it would better and easier to search for yourself. Try "how to properly use a prong collar." There are too many myths and lies created around the use of prong collars, which is why so many people struggle with training, especially with medium to large muscular working breeds. Ps. I'd suggest buying only Herm Sprenger prong collars as they are tested and true. I do not have any affiliation with Herm sprenger and only recommend based on my experience. I hope this helps even just 1 person understand and see the positivity through the use of a prong collar. I own a 7 month old female American Bully crossed with Pitty and American Bulldog đŸ¶đŸ€—. I can truly say after using everything under the sun for training her the prong collar 3.0 has been and absolute best game changer! People in my neighborhood have been complimenting and asking me how I trained her so well and how responsive and engaged she is with little to no correction. I admit before I used the prong collar and the correct way to train and use it, she was all over the place on walks until her energy came down and infinite corrections that had little effect. Not only is she well trained, she is happier for it and gets excited to put it on for a walk! The proof is real, don't let anyone tell you prong collars are harmful or cruel đŸ€ŠđŸ»đŸš«đŸ§  (when used properly) like anything. Cheers! âœŒïžđŸ¶đŸŸ

I love this. This will be so useful in so many ways. And it will be a very positive way of learning for the pup instead of saying no no no, its goooooood goooood boy ❀

Maybe do this training with a bowl of food or a treat. Seems a bit cruel with water and a panting dog who’s outdoors.

it may sound counterintuitive but allowing the freedom for the dog can actually provide more! Using the leash for communication isn’t a very good technique, while it works it can cause frustration and lead to pulling issues in the future. Instead providing a long leash and using food, treats or a toy as a distraction will help. Dogs can’t drink and eat at the same time! immediate click and reward should be given as soon as puppy sits! I’m sure this puppy has already done this before so they are practicing patience

This trick also works in teaching dog not to jump on people, and to stay in the down or sit position.

Dog don't realize that if they jump or get up prematurely or when they not supposed to, some force is holding them down but you are not holding the leash so they don't connect it to you. They very quickly learn jumping on people or getting up when told to stay down wouldn't get them anywhere cos something is preventing it from happening so they just stop trying cos they know the outcome will be the same.

What a cutie. I also learned that you must develop a relationship with your dog. You need to develop a strong bond in order for them to want to look to you for directions.
