I just adopted a small 15 lb chichuahua terrier mix. very cute young boy. He was very subdued about the 1st 8-10 days. Now 3 weeks in hes exhibiting whining crying anxiety when I leave. Even when im home he will still whine. I ignore the whining an eventually he will stop and relax.. Ive been playing, walking spending all my free time with him, even rushing around all day at work to get home faster. I love him but Ill admit its creating stress for me. I understand hes still getting used to his new home and being patient is important. I hope we push past this phase. Hes around 2
Get a Snug-A-Lug❤ the mannequins that you dress in your clothes and take wherever the family goes. It’s SUPER HELPFUL FUN AND FUNNY!!! They become a member of the family, its great❤
This short really shows the love and compassion you have for your dog. I have a sweet cavapoo who has SA and we are also struggling hard to cope with it.
The guilt makes me feel so bad. I rescued a dog last year, he’s 3 years old and he had severe separation anxiety. He still has it but less. But since my roommate moved out and I’m moving to a new space It’s gotten a little worse understandably. I hear him sobbing through the door every time I leave. I feel so bad but also so overwhelmed because he’s holding me hostage. Like what I have to offer isn’t enough :/ he’s my first dog I can’t help feeling like I’m fucking him up a little.
😂y’all are helpless and no one cares to be apart of your stressful narcissistic lifestyle were everything revolves around you and your f’d up fur babies 😂
How do you treat it? I have tried so many methods and still when left alone at home, my dog cries, gets agitated and destroys stuff. I agree with the crate – it makes it worse.
Separation anxiety isn't the correct term, it's boredom and crate training I definitely an option if you understand it's purpose and don't use it solely wen you leave. The crate is supposed to be a safe space from noises or things that might overstimulate your dog. Don't spread misinformation about dog care that contradicts healthy training.
I have 3 dogs two have anxiety when i leave them.the 2 are rescued.the new one is over the top.i have to ignore it.but people look at me when she screaming i feel judged.i have to take her with me to shops as she can open doors even some locked ones
My doggo is going through this and I’m researching it. He’s pooping in our house a lot. We need to do better and that’s what we’re doing. I have ptsd from 13 years of being in the army and I kinda get it.
We were the fifth home for our girl In her first year. The anxiety was bad, carpets torn up, destructive. I made the call to return her then thought no we don't give up on her.passed away at 15
My boy has awful separation anxiety and luckily he was one of those dogs where crate training helped him so tremendously. We loaded his crate w a nice plus bed, and a blanket which he has had since he was brought home (he is not a chewer and never has been) My other boy on the other hand would whine and scream for 30 minutes, then poop and try to hide it underneath a bowl we kept in his crate. All dogs are different they are just like humans, I wish more people came to that realization.
If my dog had separation anxiety they'd be dumped at the nearest shelter the second they tore anything apart. Ain't nobody got time for that, a dog is supposed to make my life better not harder.
I think Harvey was meant for you. You understand him more than anyone else could. People get pets and they don't realize the animals have feelings. When the pet doesn't adapt the way they want, they get rid of them.

These are clown facts
I’m not sure about the bed one, my dogs previous owner let her sleep in the bed and because I can’t, she goes absolutely nuts at night.
She is fine in every other aspect tho, no tearing or barking when I leave.
She dont know shit
