I have a beagle, and he is a very joyful and loving dog. But he keeps causing many problems for me every now and then! He often attacks people, and I've observed that those are mostly maids and workers in my apartments or vehicles. He has never bitten anyone and I don't think he has the intention to- but he always jumps onto others which is obviously not right, I try to make him understand by saying 'no' but he just won't stop. Today he created a mess and my society's online group is now blasted with hateful and misunderstood comments by people who weren't even there, thinking that he bit someone, he jumped onto a maid again and scared her terribly, he didn't bite, but that doesn't justify what happened, definitely it was a fault and an irresponsible act from my end. but now it has created a lot of chaos. He's not aggressive because he just jumps, barks and gets off… however this is very morally wrong, and I think he does this because he thinks that he's somewhat superior to certain people or whatever. I needed some help in his training- because he's actually a very friendly dog- he loves meeting new people, loves when people approach him with love, so it's not that he attacks everyone.

Lol the video is good, basically distracting your dog when he wants to lunge or bark, its called consistency and eventually it becomes an embedded habit for the dog to do naturally, people are impatient, a lot of people need training too.

You should try that with my dog. I have a torn rotator cuff to prove this is a real problem.

The answer was subtle. Prong collar. Can’t fix reactivity/ lunging with a regular collar or harness.

Probg collars are not recommended by many vets since they often get lodged into their necks

Halfway thru this video, super impresed, and am grateful you appear to understand dogs, using a mix of old school + new tricks.

The whole anti punishment only positive nonsense is just that. Have they never seen how a mum dog raises her pups? They do a disservice to the canine species, who i swear understands more about us than we do about them but i digress.

Loving your focus on allowing a dog to make decisions. Well balanced dogs in the right environment generally make good decisions imho. It's the humans who mess it up with their weird energy levels and over anthropomorphisation.

Looking forward to learning more about what you do.
Thank you for making and sharing these vids.

Peace and a shared love of dogs from Australia.

I adopted a small chichuahua terrier mix a few weels ago. Hes young 1.5-2 He isnt adjusting well to other dogs. Even calm dogs he gets anxious, wants to go over to see the other dog, but once they go nose to nose he will lunge and get agressive. It annoying because there is ALOT of dogs here, and most are not very well behaved either so every walk is a trigger storm and not very enjoyable

Prong collars are banned here (and in many countries) so what now?? Try holding back a rescue, untrained 3 year old dobie x GSD that wants to play with every dog he meets

My husky reacts to everything. Dogs, cats, deer, possum, people. Idk if he was poorly socialized by my late uncle or what but hes starting to rub off on my other dog holly. Who is typically well behaved. And im stuggling to get him to respond to training.

My boy has a bite history. He’s big and on the tail end of puberty. Was doing so good and got into a fight, now his leash reactivity is out of control. I’ve learned nothing from this video.

gods I'd love to see a "starting out" video for training like this, all the videos I find are of reactive dogs that have already learned or are mid-way through learning, I'd love to see a raw, purely reactive dog start from scratch with this training so I can see that the struggles I'm having are not abnormal. She's anxious reactive, no bite history but badly socialised by the last owners and taken away 2 weeks early by them. She's got no social manners and will dance on top of a dog if she could.

I have a bittersweet feeling about having to train this to my dog. The only reason he's reactive is because other people's dogs would bark at him and charge at him. So now I went to a none reactive dog to other dogs. To one that the moment a dog barks and charges him, he goes into a 30 minute fit and we have to stop out walk and go home. The same people who's dog barked and charged mine , will ask "what's wrong with him because he won't stop barking". 😑 Now I have to put a shit ton of time into an issue induced by oblivous idiots.
