This reminds me of the day my parents spend hours “playing” the run away game with their Belgian Malinois. My mom called me and asked if I could come help them catch Jack (dogs name). I was busy at the time so I told her to stop trying to chase him and turn around and run from him. My mom acted like that was the stupidest idea she’s ever heard. Well, 30 minutes to an hour or so later she called me again asking if I could PLEASE come help because they were still out in the field and Jack was letting them get almost close enough and then run again. So I end up driving across town to my mom’s house, get out of my car and instantly I let out a high pitch scream and start running, not towards the dog, but away from him and literally within seconds Jack tackled me and we both hit the grass but i had him and wasn’t letting go 😂😂😂 my mom still gets salty to this day if i ever mention this. I don’t know why or what I did so wrong but they wouldn’t have ever caught him by chasing him on foot.
None dog owner think its cute but its not..its frustrating..you have to chase or sometimes they dont MOVEEE! refuse to move and lying down which is 40-50kilo ! 😢
I have an adopted labrador dog..shes so lovely and naughty that she ripped the pillows ..so this part she was walking and managed to remove her collar belt attached to the leash and ran for sometime I knelt after chasing, she just ran faaaar 😂😂 and ended up in the neighbour street..that my whole family went in circles to catch her.. and bought home
How long do I stay there they're on all fours with a toy while my dog is getting further away. By the time I get up my neighbors have called paws and reported me.
This is so true! I found myself chasing my dog a few months ago. She ran and ran and the closer I got, yep the more she ran. But, as soon as I stopped and kneeled down, pretending I had some food in my hand, low and behold, she stopped and thankfully she started running towards me so fast!
This is perfect advice. Too many people will run after their dog. I can understand why, as i have seen many other dog owners and other by standers getting irritated at an owner for not going after their dog who ran off. Or for being too slow going agter the dog. But they dont realize that chasing a dog is just making things worse by either causing fear, or making their dog think its a game. Another issue i see, is people who discipline their dogs after finally getting them to come, or catching them. Which that only discourages them from coming when called. As they are going to learn they will be punished if they come back to you. And will avoid you more. This channel has really great training advice that i have used on all of my dogs. I highly recommend them.
My dog loves playing the runaway game when we have to leave my friends home. My friend lives on a big plot with 5 other dogs and lots of areas to swim. When it's time to leave, she'll walk with me to the car. When i open the car door, i can see her getting ready to make a run for it. Thankfully, I've learned to bargain with her, and she knows if she gets into the car, she'll be rewarded with a treat. But the number of times she's managed to embarrass me in front of people because I'm chasing her around the car and she thinks it's fun and games
Luckily, my dog is very greedy and food oriented so if she gets something in her mouth she shouldn't have or eat, we say swap it and she drops it and stops as she knows she'll get a price of chicken or a treat, instead.
My dog has always loved this game but she is so excited all i have to do is say' what do you have " and she runs to me wagging her tail to show me! I love her so much❤
The one time my dog got off leash, I wasn't home but I heard about it afterwards. She thought it was the funniest thing ever and when my mom couldn't catch her, she tried a last-ditch attempt and just lay down. My dog came back to make sure she was okay.
Easier said than done – I just chased my dog through a maze of traffic and parks. She would not come to me. Almost got hit by 2 trucks, a bus and 4 cars. Someone pulled over to help and he was able to grab her. She will not come to me. It was TERRIFYING. Her collar snapped and she just RAN. It took me almost an hour to find her.
I'm so grateful to have a smart dog because he quickly learned that "gimme that" means we're playing keep away but "drop it" means drop whatever he's holding. Even if he wants to play keep away, the drop it command remains top priority.

Yeah when it comes to my pup run off to the road, I wouldn't thinking about getting her toy or treat for her to come back to me so it's scary
Stopped chasing, knelt down with a treat and he still ran.

It is important that your dog knows the difference between playtime and I’m serious. It could save their life.
This is one of my concerns with my new puppy, thank you for the video 😊

That doesn't fix the problem with the dog running away.
What if you get low, make sure your voice tone is just right, and they just keep running around? How do you correct this?
lol do that with my kids 😂

You underestimate my dogs astute perception. He ain’t falling for that 😂

Piece of toy or a food 😂
For some reason when my dog gets of its leash only thing that will make it come back is to pretend like you are going home without it lol

Me with my asshole Malinois: I’ve been digging this hole for two hours. It’s full of toys, food, and other dogs. It’s raining. And I want to go home.

I runaway from my dog and its instinct to chase kicks in
This. This could be a lifesaver. I once had a friend who lost her life after falling through ice on a pond while pursuing her dog.

I'll try this next time, my dog a few weeks ago decided out of nowhere that grabbing poop she finds under the snow is the new fun thing to do 😫
