“When I got the chance to take the new 2025 Mazda CX-90 for a spin on a day trip to San Diego, I knew exactly who my co-pilot would be: Eevee, my 75-pound Golden Retriever and professional nap-taker. Spacious Enough for a Golden Retriever (and Then Some)
Let me just start by saying, this car is HUGE in the best way possible. We had the 7-passenger model with the 2nd-row captain’s chairs, which created a perfect little walkway to the third row. This gave Eevee a clear path to claim her throne in the back. With the third row down, there is more than enough space for luggage, a dog bed, a cooler, beach towels, and probably three more dogs if we tried. She had the entire back to herself and was living her best life.
We even caught her snoring within the first hour of the drive. This level of comfort is usually only achieved on her favorite couch spot at home, so it’s safe to say she was very comfy.

Now for my favorite part. I’ve always been a little intimidated by big SUVs. They can feel so bulky and hard to manage. The CX-90? It felt like I was driving my old sedan. The drive was incredibly smooth, and the turn radius is seriously impressive. We navigated the tight streets and even tighter parking spots of Downtown San Diego without a single stressful moment. Parallel parking, which is usually my personal nightmare, was a total breeze.

The whole vibe of the CX-90 is just… premium. Eevee’s favorite feature was definitely the power sliding panoramic sunroof. She loved looking up at the sky and feeling the breeze on her face. For the humans, the heated and ventilated front seats were a lifesaver, and the 12-speaker Bose® audio system made our road trip playlist sound absolutely epic. The 12.3” infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay was super intuitive and connected instantly, so we had our maps and music up and running in seconds.
Honestly, loading and unloading were also a dream. The hands-free power liftgate meant I could open the trunk with a simple kick under the bumper when my hands were full of leashes and beach bags.
