Deaf Dog Finds Love After Being Overlooked at Shelter for Months
Shelter animals with disabilities often face the harshest odds. Sadly, many are passed over time and time again, and in kill shelters, those with special needs are typically placed at the top of the euthanasia list. That was the heartbreaking reality for Blu, a deaf dog who sat in a shelter day after day, waiting for someone—anyone—to care.
Blu’s story changed the moment Mark and his partner, Sean, heard about her. The couple had experience with deaf dogs and actively sought out animals who needed extra love and patience. When they learned about Blu through her previous owner, their hearts were immediately drawn to her. The owner had been forced to give Blu up after six loving years due to housing restrictions. They’d sold their home and had no choice but to move into a rental that didn’t allow Pit Bulls. Letting go of Blu had been devastating.
