The only command I can't get is "Place". Like my dog simply will not follow where I am point whether it is food or toys. I saw on documentary that dogs have the natural ability to do that (even on upping monkey) but its something that my dog didn't come with. ๐คฃ

Watching this while my 2 months old GSD is constantly biting me
I had the perfect dog for 14 1/2 years. Envy of the neighborhood. He passed away in May and my 7 year old rescue of 3 weeks can already do most of the drills. However, he's an urban dog in a rural environment filled with horses, deer, and off leash hunting dogs so we have a lot to learn.

I love your videos! They are helping us so so much. Our nearly 3 month old is doing all of these things so so well – in training! – but in real life it is hard work sometimes. Will she start to be able to do them outside of training too soon? Or are we making mistakes? I know she's little but I want her to be able to stay in place when I ask her too, even when it's not training time!
I have a good dog that is trained on but I'm having one training I'm struggling with.
When people come close to the house or garden he goes into attack and jumps up to attack someone. When I go and take him out for a walk he is totally different and welcomes people and dogs.

Hi dog people, Iโm a previously experienced dog owner but havenโt had one for years because of work commitments.
When I say experienced itโs only with Labradors.
Now thinking of getting a rescue ๐ as a companion for my 27 year old son who has health issues which mean he is largely stuck in the house in an area where he has no friends to come round or go for walks when he feels good. He needs a kidney transplant and is living at home whilst he waits which could be some time.
I am looking for recommendations for medium sized breeds that are relatively low energy but enjoy being active at the same time??
I dont feed my dogs in bowls, not at first. They work for their food. Treating them for training is where most of their meals come from. Hiding their food. Using food mats. They may get a small bowl with a peice of chicken bone or any meat with bone in when they are crate training. Eventually down the line, they will get a meal in a bowl.

Crate training has been worth the perseverance although it felt odd at first.

I would add taking that food away sometimes when they eat, touch that dog while its eating just so they won't become food aggressive or remove it ๐ As a puppy time it will be a quick thing to learn for them ๐
